The U.S. Ambassador's Fund for cultural preservation and Hue heritage sites
Update: 09/03/2015 08:46:40
Accepted by Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial People's Committee, in the morning of February 02, 2015, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre carried out the unveiling ceremony of the "Preservation of royal altars at World heritage site-Triệu Tổ Temple, Huế Imperial City" and the grant inauguration of the "Preservation of Triệu Tổ Temple-front building, World Heritage site-Hue Imperial City, Vietnam". These are the two projects supported by the U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation in Ho Chi Minh City.

The "Preservation of royal altars at World Heritage site-Triệu Tổ Temple, Huế Imperial City" with the financial support of 29,084USD (about 640,090,000VNĐ) has been conducted from January to December of 2014 to restore the Triệu Tổ Temple's three royal altars of special historical, cultural and aesthetic values of Nguyễn dynasty.

Continuing the success of the project, the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation awarded Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial People's Committee 700,000.000 USD (about 14.763.000.000 VND) for the project on "Preservation of Triệu Tổ Temple-front building, World Heritage site-Hue Imperial City, Vietnam".

Triệu Tổ Temple is one of the five important temples of Nguyễn dynasty that was built in 1804 to worship Mr. and Mrs. Nguyễn Kim, the forefather of 9 Nguyễn Lords. This is a relic of many special cultural and historical values of the Complex of Hue Monuments-the World Cultural Heritage. After over 200 years, with the impact of  weather and wars, it has been severely degraded. The financial support of U.S. government via the U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation in helping Vietnam with the total preservation and restoration of Triệu Tổ Temple is very significant, especially in the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-America diplomatic relationship.

The Ambassador said it was his honor to hand over this grant to Hue, an ancient city, on behalf of U.S. government.  "I appreciate the cooperation with Hue Monuments Conservation Centre in Hue heritage preservation. In the future, we will make more efforts in helping Hue find its unique authentic heritage values."
