Update: 02/04/2015 10:42:59
After a thorough preparation, in the afternoon of March 31, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (Centre in brief) organized the opening ceremony on the exhibition and music performance at Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre, at which the Nha nhac-Vietnamese Court Music, royal dance and Tuồng (royal theatrical play) were performced.

According to researchers, Duyệt Thị Đường was constructed in 1826 under Emperor Minh Mạng's reign. That was the theatre of the Nguyen Court where its emperors and royalties enjoyed the traditional arts, especially the ancient Tuồng. In addition, that was where the royal banquets for the foreign envoy were taken place.

Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, the director of Hue Monuments Conservation Centre said that after nearly 200 years, with negative impacts of natural catastrophe and war, the theatre has been severely destroyed and then reconstructed many times. From 1995 to 2002, it was restored; the seats for former audience were restored and used for nowaday tourists from March 2003. In this improvement, the stage of Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre was appropriately reformed, the interior was re-decorated, especially the exhibition introducing the Court Music, Royal Dance and Tuồng was newly set up. The exhibition focused on the documentary photos, costumes, music instruments, mask of the royal theatrical plays, and such things.

The performance for tourists at Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre was well re-arranged by the artists of Hue Theatre of Royal and Traditional Arts to meet the interest of audiences, and to be contributive to Hue heritage preservation and promotion. The time of daily performance is as follows:

Morning: 10AM-10.40AM

Afternoon: 15PM-15.40PM
