The memorial and tribute to Professor Tran Van Khe at Duyet Thi Duong Royal theater

In the afternoon of June 26, 2015 at Duyet Thi Duong royal theater (Hue Imperial City), Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (HMCC) solemnly carried out the Memorial and Tribute to Professor Tran Van Khe who contributed much in the preservation, renaissance and honor of Nha nhac-Vietnamese Court Music. The Centre also mobilized the Tran Van Khe Fund for the research projects of Vietnamese traditional music as his ever-wish. The participants of the ceremony included Ms Doan Thi Thanh Huyen-the provincial standing commissioner and the provincial chief propaganda; the representatives of the Province and the Centre; the former leaders of the Province and Centre; the intellects of cultural field; the press and tourists visiting the Imperial city.


Dr. Phan Thanh Hai-the director of HMCC said after the recognition of Nha Nhac-Vietnamese Court Music in late 2003, in early 2004, Prof. Tran Van Khe and the representatives of Vietnam National Committee UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture-Sports-Tourism accompanied by the artists of Hue Royal Traditional Theatre of Arts had a performance and introduction at UNESCO Office in Paris as well as big cities of France and Brussels-capital of Belgium that gained nice reputation in Europe.

Especially, with considerable experiences and enthusiasm in the ethnomusicology preservation, he and HMCC continued the compilation of the National Action Plan in Nha nhac preservation seeking for the sponsorship of UNESCO. And the mentioned national action plan was approved with the total financial support of 154,900 USD during 2005-2009. He was invited in this project as the honorary adviser and direct lecturer about Nha nhac in different activities of the project.

According to Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, HMCC is in charge of the preservation and enhancement of nha Nhac-Vietnamese Court Music, which always accompanies with the professor in this cause. Due to this, HMCC would like to express the deep gratitude and the mournfulness to him, whose whole life was to make known Vietnamese music to different generations and to be contributive in the research, transmission and popularization and preservation of Nha nhac.

At this ceremony, HMCC mobilized the Tran Van Khe Fund for the research projects of Vietnamese traditional music, and the total of which was 20,000,000 VND.

At the end of the ceremony, representatives of Nha nhac instrumentalists of the Theatre, who used to be lectured by professor did play a piece of Nha nhac that he especially loved to show their gratefulness and to take their adieu to him.
