1. INTRODUCTION TO HUE FESTIVAL 2024 

In striving for the typical national and international Festival city of Vietnam and the World, Hue Festival 2024 continues to be a unique cultural activity due to its traditional attractiveness, deep impression of humanity, in which the locals and tourists become the creators as well as enjoyers. With Hue Festival 2024, not only typical art programs representing cultural traits of different countries are included, but royal as well as folk festivities are rehabilitated to meet with the contemporary tendencies and public desires. Hue Festival contributes to the socio-economic development, making Thua Thien Hue worthy of being one of the major and unique centers of the country and Southeast Asia in terms of culture and tourism. This is of great significance for the success of implementation of Resolution 54-NQ/TW of the Politburo in the building and developing of Thua Thien Hue Province to 2030, vision to 2045, in which it is targetted that Thua Thien Hue becomes a centrally-governed city by 2025 on the foundation of preserving and promoting the ancient Hue’s cultural heritage values and identities especially focusing on the particularities of culture, heritage, ecology, cultural landscape, environmentally friendliness and so on. 

Hue Festival 2024, four-season theming, is done throughout the year for the gradual setting up of new festival program system:

Spring Festival - "Ancient Capital’s Spring" (January - March) is highlighted with royal Tet activities, traditional Tet cultural space and unique folk festivals, attracting participation of tourists.
Summer Festival - "The Shining Capital City" (April - June) is highlighted with Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024, which helps introduce and promote Hue for the target of becoming a typical Festival city of Vietnam.
“Hue Autumn Festival” (July - September) focuses on the Mid-Autumn Festival Program with Hue Lantern Festival 2024, combining street performances of Unicorn - Lion – Dragon Dance, the display, lantern procession, experience the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, and introduction of traditional Mid-autumn Festival celebration of the Viets. 
"Hue Winter of Hue" (October - December) is highlighted with the Hue Music Week 2024, and ended with the Countdown 2025.

II. INTRODUCTION TO HUE INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL WEEK 2024

In inheriting achievements of previous festivals, the highlight of Hue Festival 2024 is the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 theming "Cultural heritage with integration and development" taken place during June 7-12, 2024. 

Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 promises to bring attendees new and unique experiences of culture, history and art. It consists of attractive performances of both Vietnamese and international artists in introducing the Court music and dance together with unique folk songs. High-quality traditional and contemporary art programs of 8 countries from different continents are taken place every night on stages of Kien Trung Hall, Thai Binh Lau Pavilion, Thieu Phuong Garden (Hue Imperial City), Quoc Hoc Stele, February 3rd Park, and other stages throughout Thua Thien Hue Province.

Hue International Arts Festival 2024 Week will be taken place within 6 days and nights, as follows:

1. The Opening program of Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 is done at 8:00 PM of June 7, 2024, at the very first time at Kien Trung Imperial Hall. The program is a party of light and sound demonstrating unlimited creativity basically using cultural heritage values of the nation and humanity. Quintessences Nha nhac – Vietnamese Court Music, Nguyen Dynasty’s Woodblocks, Imperial Archive of Nguyen Dynasty, the Literature on Hue Royal Architecture, and so forth, will be magnificent, vibrant and proud with the support of modern Laser, Led Matrix, Hologram, and 3D Mapping. The on-stage performances will show that Hue city is with the so-called "brightened as heritage region", “sustainable development”, “nature appreciation”, “friendly and tranquil Hue”, “marvellous ancient capital city”, “worldwide and nationwide cultural nuance convergence”, and the “city of eternal sustainable development”.

2. The Street Festival "Cultural Colors" is done in the afternoon of June 8 and 10, 2024, in introducing heritage values of Hue and other regions nationwide, as well as those of different countries around the world. The activity aims at creating a colorful artistic resonance along Hue streets for the cheerful moments of the community. With music, dance, vaudeville, processions and folk performances, etc. the "Cultural Colors" street festival promises to bring the public interesting experiences alone, and to foster the international friendliness alike.

3. Performance programs of domestic and international art troupes: is taken place at 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM during June 8 to 11, 2024 at the two community stages namely Quoc Hoc Square  and February 3rd Park. To date, there have been 12 art troupes from 7 countries sending artists joining Hue Festival 2024, including Light Festival, Contemporary Dance Artist Xuan Le, Cergy City’s Hiphop Dance Group, Artistic Photo Exhibition "Road to Olympique Paris 2024” (France), Royal Stilt Troupe of Merchtem Region (Belgium), Double Impro Hiphop Dance Group (Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation, Belgium), Flamenco Hispano Dance Group (Spain), Eisa Urakaji Drum Dance Art Troupe (Japan), Lanxi Li Yu Drama Research Institute, Zhejiang Province, China, Pianist Steve Barakatt (Canada), Sae Nyuk Folk Art Troupe, and Yangpyeong Culture and Arts Association (Korea). The presence of famous domestic singers, bands, and artistic troupes such as Singer Den Vau accompanied with rapper Suboi, Chillies Band, Soobin Hoang Son, Quan Ho Bac Ninh Folk Theater, Cao Van Lau Theater, Vietnam Circus Federation, Kontum Provincial Art Troupe, and etc. are of great interest to the community. Moreover, the participation of Hue artists from Hue Traditional Music and Performance Theatre, Hue Royal Traditional Theatre of Arts, Hue Academy of Music, young artist clubs, students in the province will reflect the uniqueness, quintessence and diversity of the traditional and contemporary art.

4. Music program “Talking about Trinh Cong Son - the found love” cooperated among Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, Trinh Cong Son’s Family and BamBoo Artists Agency Company. The program is taken place at 7:30 PM of June 09, 2024 at the stage of Kien Trung Hall, Hue Imperial City with the participation of famous singers and instrumentalists, intended to be Cam Van, Tran Manh Tuan, Quang Dung, Ha Tran, Duc Tuan, Ngoc Khue, Viet Thu, An Tran, Nguyen Vinh Ha Phuong and the story-teller Tung Leo, DJ Huy Ngo, Korean violinist Jmi Ko, conductor Dustin Tieu and Orchestra Imagin Philharmonic (IPO), contemporary dance group Lyricist of Alexander Tu and the aodai performance of designer Trinh Hoang Dieu. The program promises to be one of a cultural and artistic highlights of Hue Festival 2024, which honors Hue cultural values shown through images and music pieces of talented musician Trinh Cong Son.

5. Light Festival from 6:00 PM on June 8 to 22, 2024 at Thai Binh Lau Pavilion and Thieu Phuong Royal Garden (Hue Imperial City). The artistic lighting space, inspired from Hue heritage and modern Western technology, will let audiences be in a magical and poetical walk.

6. Beer Festival on June 8, 2024, at 1 Ha Huy Tap, is a grand music party with the participation of top favorite young artists in Vietnam.

7. Floating Lantern Festival and Vegetarian Cuisine: are taken place at Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion on June 8 and 9, 2024 to introduce the uniqueness as well as particularities of  Hue vegetarian cuisine. Besides, the Floating Lantern hosted by Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thua Thien Hue Province on Huong River is to wish for the supreme peace of the nation and inhabitants.

8. "Tam Giang Wave" Festival is taken place from June 8 to 10, 2024 that helps promote the potential, strengths and image of Quang Dien coastal area to the public. Remarkably, the traditional values and big potentials of Tam Giang lagoon system will be emphasized in this event.

9. "Be with Hue Festival" (the closing program of Hue International Arts Festival 2024): taken place at 8:00 PM June 12, 2024 at the stage of Kien Trung Hall, Hue Imperial City promises to be a unique party of arts, creating a special interaction between tradition and modernity. This would be a chance for cultural colors of Hue ancient capital city, Vietnam and participating countries to be known. Also, the program is the great thanks to those who are with Hue Festival 2024.
